How to read this list of Productivity subreddits

The top of this list is not r/productivity. It is the small, specific rooms: people asking which note app syncs offline, which timer survives a laptop restart, which PDF tool does not upsell. A room that talks about one tool category all day links to more products in it than a general advice room ten times its size, and the focus score is built to surface exactly that gap.

Productivity is the widest category in the catalogue, which cuts both ways. It has the most candidates, so the threshold removes the most noise. It also means a tool that is really a writing app, a calendar, or a knowledge base will find its people spread across three or four of these rooms rather than concentrated in one. Read the list as a shortlist to check, not a ranking to obey.

Watch the arrival column before you write anything. Several of the highest-focus rooms here almost never see a link arrive inside a post: the tool gets named in a comment, answering someone else's question. Posting a launch in one of those is the fastest way to get removed. Answering a question in it is the reason the room is on this list at all.

See the products, not just the rooms

The rooms are free. Which products the radar found inside each one is the paid part of PulsePeek, and it is the difference between a room that fits your product and a room that already has one.

Questions about Productivity communities

No, and that is the point. Subscriber counts do not exist anywhere in our data. What we count is how many different products get linked in a room across the whole measurement window, and how much of that product talk belongs to this category. A small room with narrow, repeated product talk ranks above a huge general one.

Because its product talk is spread thin. Focus compares the products of this category found in a room against the room's whole product footprint. General advice rooms discuss everything, so no single category owns much of them. Rooms built around one workflow score higher, which is what makes them useful to you.

Some of them, and the arrival column is your first read. Where it says the link almost never arrives as a post, the observed format is the comment citation, and a launch post is likely to be removed. We infer that from what has already been posted, not from the rules, so read the room before you write.

The underlying counts are rebuilt once a day, overnight. Rank changes are slow because the window spans months: one busy week does not move a room from the bottom to the top. If a room disappears from the list, it usually fell under the eligibility threshold rather than lost the category.
