How to read this list of Commerce & Shopping subreddits

Commerce has the second widest set of eligible rooms in the catalogue, and the widest range of room types. Buying and selling rooms, city marketplaces, resale and authentication rooms, and the small operator rooms behind them all clear the threshold. A tool for merchants and a tool for shoppers will find almost no overlap between their two shortlists here.

The signal here is close to raw commercial intent, which makes it valuable and volatile at once. People link a shop because they are about to buy from it, and a room can reorganise around a new marketplace within weeks. Rank position in this category is the least durable of any page on this site, with the exception of AI.

One thing this list will not tell you: whether a room permits sellers. Many marketplace rooms allow listings only in a scheduled thread, and that structure is invisible to us. The arrival column shows whether links reach posts at all, which is a proxy, not the rule. Read the room before you plan a campaign around it. The rooms with a scheduled thread are often the most workable ones on this page, because the structure means somebody thought about how sellers and buyers share the space rather than banning one of them outright.

Questions about Commerce & Shopping communities

Because the products linked inside them are shops and marketplaces, which is what we classify. A local buy and sell room ranks here on exactly the same basis as a global one.

Both, but not from the same rows. Merchant tooling gets linked in operator rooms, and shops get linked in buying rooms. They sit on the same page because they share a category, so read the room names rather than only the ranking.

Usually only inside whatever structure the room has set up for it, and that structure is invisible to us. The arrival column shows whether links reach posts at all. It cannot tell you that a room allows listings only in a weekly thread.

Less stable than most. Commerce rooms reorganise around new marketplaces quickly, and the counts rebuild daily over a window that spans months. Expect movement in this list between visits.
